Dr. F. A. Sobhani, a Professor of Accounting and Human Resource Management in the School of Business
and Economics at United International University (UIU) in Dhaka, features an array of credentials and
accomplishments. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he has been appointed as the Director of the
Center for International Affairs and Cooperation (CIAC) at UIU. He is a Scrum Master at Scrum Inc.,
USA, and also serves as a Board Member of Agile in Education USA, New York. Additionally, he plays
the role of Research Coordinator (South Asia) for the Australian Academy of Business Leadership in
Sydney. Dr. Sobhani’s influence extends to his role as President of the Bangladesh Society for Private
University Academics (BSPUA), a registered platform representing private university academics in
Bangladesh. His academic journey has seen him in roles such as Visiting Professor at the Accounting
Research Institute (ARI) of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) in Malaysia and as an external member at
both Rajshahi University and Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP). He has also contributed as an
Editor for the Australian Journal of Accounting, Economics, and Finance, headquartered in Sydney, Australia.
In addition to his expertise in accounting, Dr. Sobhani has made notable contributions in the fields of HR
and leadership, evident through his current position as Vice-President of the Federation of Bangladesh
Human Resource Organizations (FBHRO) and his founding chairmanship of the Bangladesh Society for
Human Resources Management (BSHRM) in Chittagong. Prior to his academic career, he gained valuable
experience as a Financial Analyst cum Company Secretary at Credit Rating Information and Services
Limited (CRISL) in Dhaka. His academic leadership roles include stints as Professor and Dean of the
Human Resource Development Institute (HRDI) at Daffodil International University (DIU) and as
Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies at the International Islamic University Chittagong
(IIUC). He also served as the Director of the MBA Program within the School of Business and Economics
at United International University (UIU).
Dr. Sobhani’s academic journey began with the completion of his BBA and MBA degrees, with a major
in Accounting, from the University of Chittagong. He furthered his education with a second Master’s
degree in Project Management from the University of Antwerp, Belgium, before obtaining his PhD in the
field of HR Accounting from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Malaysia. His dedication to academia has
been recognized with the ‘Education Award 2022’ by Swadhinata Sangsad, Dhaka. Dr. Sobhani’s
commitment to research is evidenced through his Google Scholar citations and by his successful
acquisition of research grants from Australia, Malaysia, and Bangladesh. He has contributed significantly
to academic literature with the publication of approximately 100 research articles in various esteemed
journals and magazines both domestically and internationally, focusing on areas such as accounting,
corporate disclosure, HR, and leadership. Furthermore, He has supervised PhD students both domestically
and internationally and has served as an external examiner for doctoral theses at renowned universities in
Australia, Malaysia, and India. His thirst for knowledge and academic exchange has led him to explore
22 countries across the globe including the USA, UK and Australia, where he delivered keynote speeches
and presented research papers at numerous international conferences.
